Battle of the Beauty Box | November 2015 | Review | Unboxing

*referral and affiliate links in post
Is this your first time here? Each month I do a "Battle of the Beauty Boxes" where I pit a few of the most popular Beauty Boxes against each other. This month we are reviewing Ipsy, Birchbox, Target Beauty and a new edition - Glossybox.

The Target Beauty Box, lpsy Glam Bag, and Birchbox all cost $10 Glossybox is $21 but I got a pretty sweet deal and couldn't refuse so we are going to be adding that one in from now on!

Check out the unboxy box video

So where should we start?

$10
If you don't know about the Target Beauty Box it's released not on any particular timeline. They come out typically seasonally but it seems recently a little more often. Always contains a nice variety. and sells out really fast. I was excited about this one because it had a pretty good variety of products! It was a little pricier but totally worth it!

Everything we received in This Target Beauty Box

So what is all this stuff?

Revlon Colorstay Ultra Suede
$8.59
This isn't a color I would choose although the formula is very nice. It dries to a stain and is somewhere between a satin and matte finish

It's apparently available in 20 different shades, too bad I didn't get it in one I would actually use!

Goody Ouchless Silicone Lined Elastics
$0.50
These are nice. They have a plastic lining that I suppose protects your hair from getting lumps

Olly Beauty Vitamin Sample
$0.50
These tasted like grapefruit. I do take a multivitamin already and while I liked trying these I definitely won't be replacing my vitamin for these anytime soon

The vitamins (you need two)

Acure Triple Repair Shampoo & Conditioner
$2.50
My containers do not look like the ones on the Target website!
I am most excited about this shampoo and conditioner duo because I love Argan oil! It smells a bit like cherries but I haven't gotten to use it yet.

Skinfix Ultra Rich Body Butter
$2.25
This is super thick and definitely great for winter. I wouldn't use this anywhere except my arms and legs because it's just a bit too heavy for anywhere else!

I've been wanting to try a Skin Fix product and now I get to, yay!

Covergirl Intensify Me Eyeliner 300
$7.99
I have one of these already and love it! Will absolutely use this!

Hello Toothpaste
$1
Love this packaging! I will use this for certain! Dye free, sugar free pase safely polishes teeth and freshens breath

S.W. Basics Certified Organic Body Scrub
(?)
I haven't use this yet but it's one of those "just add water" type deals

An exfoliant which for most people is great for dry winter skin. I have never heard of this brand so maybe I'll love it, maybe I won't -- who knows?

RoC Deep Wrinkle Night Cream
$20
Our big ticket item. I have never once used a RoC product. I remember them when I was a kid on TV commercials. I am definitely excited to try out their products for the first time!

So, in summary

I love this box! I feel terrible because almost any other month this discount beauty box would have definitely taken home the top prize but this month was so great! All the boxes were amazing. The value of this box is about $42 which is such a steal for only $10 and all of these products are things that I will actually use... but as it goes in the Battle of the Beauty Boxes there can only be one.

$10
Ipsy is another discount beauty bag. For $10 each month Ipsy sends you a bag with typically about five samples based on a little survey you take upon subscribing. This monthly beauty subscription tends to send more makeup selections than skincare so keep that in mind if you are trying to find the right subscription box for you. So, this bag though. I think hearts were just floating out of my eyes. The theme this month is "Beauty Blast" how cute.

Everything that we received in our Ipsy Glam Bag this month

So what is all this stuff?

Inspr Angled Brush
$10
This angled brush is great for working the crease of your eye or for shadows that are in a thicker form. I love the handle because it has a slight concave so it's a little easier to hold

It's a pretty nice brush. I will definitely use it.

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara Sample
$9
I like the formula of this mascara. I really like a natural looking eyelash look. I find it distracting to look at someone and they have like, huge spider lashes. I do have a little bone to pick though...

This wand is kind of poop. I thought maybe it was just the size of the tube of mascara in comparison to the wand that made it look so big, it's not. This wand is huge and it just... it's just not for me - at all.

Benefit Gimme Brow Sample
$9.99
My color was "medium deep" I have pretty full eyebrows so the notion to use a gel to fill them in just hasn't occurred me. Now all of a sudden eyebrows are a thing... their like hemlines some years they go up others they come down... always consistently there though (thank goodness!)

So I tried it, and you couldn't even tell EXCEPT on my grey eyebrows - which was pretty boss actually

It's just a little sample

And a little mini mascara like wand

Leeanni Go Away Gloomy Day
$10
I have no idea if that price is accurate but that's what this is going for on Ebay. Okay, cute name and stuff but what the hell is this? Is it a toner? An astringent? It's says for extra boost but what exactly does that mean? I would love to know? Anyone!?

Beaute Basics Eye Crayon
$19.99
This is amazing, definitely my favorite item in the Ipsy Glam Bag this month!
The color is Sahara Gold and it is stunning!

How beautiful is that? Love this eyeshadow crayon!

So in summary

Ipsy was also amazing this month and for the $10 we spent we received $59 in items which is awesome! Ipsy is a pretty consistently pleasing choice as well but this month they just aren't my big winner!

If you aren't familiar with Glossybox it's a beauty subscription box that sends a good mixture of skincare and makeup products. It's $21 a month however sends full sized products as well as deluxe samples. No foils. This is my first Glossybox and I had already seen some Instagram unboxing.

Everything that was in the October Glossybox. The packaging is the most memorable thing about this box. It's gorgeous and looks a lot like the "My Little Box" from Europe. There is also a lot of red in here.

So what is all this stuff?

Sabe Masson Le Soft Perfume
$25
The packaging for this perfume solid is gorgeous. And of course the French just says, "Superior"

I am guessing that Umabel is the scent. The applicator is cardboard and there is a pretty cherub on it.

The scent is a little bit floral and a lot of powder. Not a scent I would choose but still nice. I am actually going to buy these for Christmas Gifts! They are just too pretty!

Phyto Paris Protectant Spray
$6.40
I will definitely use this! I straighten my hair a ton and if I don't use some sort of protecting spray it turns into a bunch of hay. This also detangles as most protecting sprays do. I haven't gotten to try it yet though

De Bruyere Lip Gloss
$17.50
So, at first glance this looks pretty and red and that name though, so French. But unfortunately things are not as they seem

Firstly, my wand looks broken and bent. I am 1,000 percent certain it isn't supposed to be that way.

Secondly, is that color swatch. This is much more a vibrant pink than red. It's unlikely I will ever wear this. It's also a traditional gloss which is my least favorite of all lip products. If it hadn't been for this product this box probably would have won the entire battle.

Lollipops Nail Lacquer
$10
This is a pretty red nail polish "Voyage a Paris". I haven't done a whole mani with it yet  but I opened it up to get a look at the formula and it looks a little transluscent so you would probably need about 2-3 coats for decent coverage.

Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep
$8.75
That price is an estimate based on the full sized price. This is a really fancy way to say night cream - basically, I think.

It comes in a cute little tub

Oddly enough, it's pink which is a different thing for me. I don't think I've ever owned a pink skin cream before. I will definitely be using this.

So, in summary

This was a great box from Glossybox for the $21 cost we received about $67 in products which is pretty amazing. I love the packaging as well and the French theme was tons of fun. I really liked everything (except the lipgloss) and am really glad that I've added Glossybox to the mix.

Birchbox is a $10 monthly discount beauty box that sends deluxe size and some full size. If you are in the market for a new monthly beauty box this one tends to send more skincare type products so it is best to keep that in mind when choosing.

Everything that I received in my Birchbox this month. The hand cream was definitely this (beautiful) boxes saving grace. The items I received are definitely nice but I don't feel that they are as tailored to me as they should be and ... another small grievance is that the repeat product lines... Supergoop and Parlor AGAIN. And I realize that they are the same product but I signed up because of the variety.

So what is all this stuff?

Supergoop Eyecream
$6.42
This is a tiny sample and while I am sure I will use this because I just love all the lotions and potions you can try for your face and this is a trusted and beloved brand I just think Birchbox could have done better by me!

Rene Furterer Hair Mask
$3.35
This looks like something interesting to try. I have never heard of this before and I do like trying different masks even the kinds for my hair.

Parlor Hairspray
$4
This Jeff Chastain Flexible Hold Hairspray is a Birchbox exclusive which is kind of cool, but I've received the shampoo and conditioner to this product before and I am kind of bored.

I do like the nozzle though!

bbrowbar
$25
I have no real need for this so it's kind of a disappointment. Particularly since it's my "big ticket" item. The color is Indian Chocolate and it's okay I suppose. I am not really sure because I never color in my eyebrows.

If you watched the unboxing you know that it broke when I was swatching it so press gently to start.

Moroccanoil Hand Cream
$24
This is a full sizer! Yay! I love this hand cream. It has a light floral - ish scent and it goes on really nicely

This is probably my favorite item that I've ever received in a Birchbox. I love that packaging! Feels so luxurious!

So in summary

Birchbox was just kind of eh for me this month. I loved the handcream but all the other "okay" items kind of balanced out that excitement. For our $10 investment we received about $63 in products which isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination but if we are unlikely to use most of them it's kind of pointless right?

And Finally the Moment you KNEW Was Coming

Glossybox my big winner this month. This box was plain pink and I forgot to take a picture of the outside, you can get the gist of it though!

So what is all this stuff?

Florapy Sheet Mask
$8
I love face masks so this was really exciting for me. I received the Strength + Energy Mask. These masks combine hydration with aromatherapy. I can NOT wait to use this!

Estee Lauder Revitalizing Anti-Aging Cream
$7.50
Thats an approximation of price. I will definitely add this into the routine I have for my creams. This has breakthrough IntuiGen Technology that helps reactivate skin's own revitalization

It's a little jar but creams like this ( I have one that is a lot like this) go a long way. For whatever reason they tingle when you apply them as well.

Crabtree & Evelyn La Source
$22
This has seaweed and algae extracts for ultra hydration in these colder and drier winter months. This is a very thick formula and you can feel that it adds a barrier like protection. The scent is light a little bit fresh and crisp. It stays with you a long time. I could smell it lying in bed last night and I put it on long before dinner (and I cooked and did dishes)

Marsk Mineral Eye Shadow
$24
Okay, I'm going to be real for a moment. I would never buy this in real life. It's a $24 EYESHADOW. It isn't even a half ounce of product... I could buy truffles for this price. However, for the sake of the review I shall continue.

I don't typically bother with mineral eyeshadows and that has nothing to do with them but more to do with the fact that I have kids and they would have a field day with a product like this if they got their hands on it. However, I am excited to try a Marsk product because I never have before.

The color is called You're Toast and it is very beautiful and goes on nicely I must admit.

Beauty for Real Lip Pencil
$14
Naturally define the shape of your lips with this "Perfect Lip Pencil" Simply apply this before color application

I don't know how much I will use this but it's definitely something different and I like that about it.

So that's it for this month.... Glossybox my big winner. Who would have thought?

Until Next Time... Stay Cute Guys!
