Here's the Box Breakdown
first look in the boxwalla food box
Our first glimpse inside the Boxwalla Food Box. Chocolate right on top? WIN!

what's in the boxwalla food box
Everything that we received in the Boxwalla Food Box for December. The theme is "Wonder-food Life" and it really is wonderful!

So what is all this stuff?

Our box insert. This details each item that we received and the theme of the box. This month's theme, "Wonder-food Life" is full of addicting foods you just can't get enough of!

askinosie chocolate hazelnut spread
$13
This spread is made with Hazelnuts sourced in Washington state and cocoa and cocoa nibs from the Phillipines, Made entirely from scratch it contains no preservatives, no additives, and no fillers.

The flavor is rich and decadent and the texture is firm. Can be used for baking and great on toast, in pastries, milkshakes or just right out of the jar!

wozz! kitchen creations
$12
The second item we've received from Wozz! Kitchen Creations this dessert sauce is made with buttered rum, vanilla bean, chai and pure maple syrup and makes a perfect topping for ice cream or honestly anything. It's amazingly tasty and makes everything taste like a world class dessert!

It has a "jam like" consistency and a warm sweet flavor that lights up your whole mouth. This passed not only our test but the kids test as well. We have added this to apples and the gamut of fruit for them to enjoy. An absolute crowd pleaser!

ozuke umeboshi plums
$12.99
Ahh our box favorite! This salty treat is made from a seasonal Paonia Plum grown in the mountains of Colorada. They're salted, fermented, and then dehydrated. We ate these just so but it's suggested that you add them to rice or with really good sake!

They do contain pits - so be mindful of that!  But these are so delicious. They taste a lot like an olive but bigger and there's also a base note that is slightly sweet. Our Thai StepMom once served traditional pickled mangoes and they are (a little) like that. Very unique and a beautiful flavor!

askinosie zingermans chocolate bar
$9
Another offering from Askinose Chocolate - a collaboration with Zingerman's this bar is entirely bean to bar. Made with pieces of whole, organic vanilla bean to give a wonderful aroma to this chocolate.

The bar is big! And is marked with the Askinosie name.

While the vanilla adds a bit of a creamy flavor we have to say that overall this bar has a fruity taste. A little like raisins. It's absolutely scrumptious!

So in summary

We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation, and presentation. The Boxwalla Food Box is a consistently wonderful, high quality box full of flavors that delight us and also pique our curiousity... there is just so much complexity in each box. The presentation is wonderful. Each item arrives exactly as it should and we LOVE that the box is biodegradable and compostable! The quality is phenomenal. All amazingly made, gourmet foods that are out of this world! And curation. Wonder-filled food is right... not only are each of these items delicious, they're also full of depth. Each flavor is unique and really quite wonder-filled! This box is always a pleasure - a perfect gift for the foodie in your life (even if it is yourself)
