Here's the Box Breakdown
first look in the neko box
Our first glimpse inside the Neko Box.  We can't say how excited we were for this unboxing!

what's in the neko box subscription
Everything that we received in our Neko Box for January. The theme for this box was "New Beginnings" and took us around the Asakusa Historic area of Tokyo.

So what is all this stuff?

Our box insert. The front tells us about our theme

And the reverse details each of the items received.

The coolest aspect of this subscription box is the Kawa Zine it includes. For each box the district that it focuses on is highlighted and they take us on a tour of that area and tell us all about it's history and culture.

It's well put together and an incredible way to really bring the box to life!

This bookmark is made from Yuzen Washi Paper. Because washi paper is know for being durable - this bookmark will hold up! We love the koi pond pattern - it's super cool!

life notebook
Famous around the world for it's high quality paper this notebook is bound using a stitching technique called Ito-Toji which is traditional in Japan. We are just super fond of the style

The ruled pages and size make it great for making notes on the go!

kuretake brush pen
Founded in 1902 Kuretake is a leader in Japanese sumi-e-inks (black ink painting). Create beautiful sketches or work on your calligraphy with this pretty pen

Not only does this look cool, the tip is super fine and you can manipulate the strokes to alternate between a thick and thin line

Featuring a beautiful Japanese style print this mini letter set can be used as gift cards or note writing.

The size is adorable and the style of the envelopes is unique! Love this!

We LOVE washi tape. We use it on everything! This tape company started in 1923 and is responsible for the craze of washi tape that has taken the world by storm!

We love that the style of this tape mirrors the style of the mini letter set. They look beautiful together!

Featuring an Ukiyo-e woodblock print of this beautiful Japanese lady -while we know this is a postcard we think we are going to keep this and frame it!

The reverse looks a lot like any other postcard

So in summary

We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation, and presentation. The Neko Box is a great way for anyone that loves Japanese culture to experience it authentically. We love the variety and the way the box is presented. It's truly excellent. The presentation is wonderful, everything arrives exactly as it should. The quality is fantastic. We love that each item is carefully chose for it's authenticity! And curation is phenomenal. We are super fond of the zine and how each box takes us to a different region. We think this makes the box a real treasure - because it really gives us a taste of what life in Japan is truly like! With a value of $48.95 we think this box is an absolute steal!
