Here's the Breakdown
what's in the piquant post subscription box
Everything that we received in the Piquant Post for this month. There is a Louisiana Spice theme going on here and we love it!

So what is all this stuff?

Cajun Spice Blend
This blend contains paprika, sea salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Our husband is definitely excited to try this out - these flavors are right up his alley!

The recipe that accompanies this was Cajun Blackened Salmon that sounds absolutely scrummy!

New Orleans Seafood Boil
This spice blend contains so many wonderfully flavorful ingredients like; mustard seed, coriander seed, black peppercorn, allspice, dill seed, crushed red pepper, celery seed, smoked paprika, cardamom, cloves, ginger, and bay leaves.

It also included a bag of bay leaves and a drawstring bag to add your seafood boil spice in

The recipe that was included for this spice blend is the New Orleans Seafood Boil which has onions, lemons, corn, potatoes, mussels, shrimp, crabs, and sausage rounding out it's cast of characters. Great for all your gatherings!

Tangy 'Slaw Spice
This blend has a simple mixture of celery seed, mustard seed, white pepper, thyme, and shallot

The accompanying recipe is this NOLA Tangy Coleslaw which is a bright and vibrant twist of classic coleslaw.

Praline Spice
This sweet spice blend has a rich and warm combination of; raw pecans, cinnamon, cloves, allspice and ginger

The accompanying recipe is for Praline Spiced Pancakes and since we make homemade pancakes and waffles most weekend mornings we decided to prepare it for you guys.

It's a really simple pancake batter with one small caveat, the use of buttermilk. However, they do offer a buttermilk sub (simply adding a tablespoon of lemon juice to each cup of milk)
"Buttermilk"

With our dry ingredients

All mixed and ready for pancakes!

The verdict? These were an absolute hit! The kids loved them and they made the whole house smell great!

So in summary

We can't break Piquant Post down the way we do our typical subscriptions because we know what we're getting when we subscribe - but we have to say that we love the flavors and the variety! Each of these spices is unique yet they all follow a concept and we really like that! At an $11.99 price point we think this subscription is an excellent value!
