Here's the Box Breakdown
what's in the Piqunt Post subscription
Everything that we received in our Piquant Post for May. This has a Mexican flavored theme which is going to bode well for our Taco Tuesday tradition!


So what is all this stuff?


Mole Poblano Blend

Our first blend is a Mole Poblano and it's accompanying recipe is a Chicken Mole Poblano

This packet includes; Ancho Chile, Chipotle Chile, Cinnamon, Cumin, Cloves, Mexican Oregano, Chocolate, Paprika, Coriander, Sesame Seed and Black Pepper so this is going to have a bit of heat to it. We'll have to use this on a night the kids won't be home!


Achiote Spice Blend

This blend promises to be complex and bright! It's accompanying recipe is Shrimp Yucatan which looks delicious!

The packet includes Annatto Seed, Mexican Oregano, Cumin Seed, Coriander Seed, Black Pepper, Cloves, Allspice and Bay Leaf. 


Adobo Spice Packet

We aren't really sure if this is anything like Goya's Adobo (because that pretty much shaped many of our early 20's home made dishes) but it does sound yummy! The accompanying recipe is Pork Tenderloin Adobo

This packet includes; Ancho Chile, Coriander Seed, Cumin Seed, Fennel Seed, Sweet Paprika, Mustard Seed, Mexican Oregano, Mexican Cinnamon and Black Pepper


Taco Elixer Packet
This taco seasoning packet came with a recipe for perfect beef tacos. You know we had to share with you guys our Taco Tuesday Tradition!

This packet contains; Chili powder, Mexican Oregano, Cumin Seeds, Coriander Seeds, Cayenne Pepper, and Smoked Paprika. The recipe included their own Pico de Gallo recipe as well


So now what?


We made our own pico instead of using the recipe included.Mainly because this is tried and true for us. Very simple mixture of cilantro, tomatoes, purple onion, lime juice, salt, garlic and a bit of cumin

We cooked our beef with onions and garlic per the recipe and then added water (the recipe calls for broth but we sort of winged it) and the 3 tbsp of taco seasoning

The adults around here up the ante in their Pico as well so this gets ground up on the side and then we all wash our hands and avoid our eyes for a while

We also made our own Guacamole which is also so simple - just avocado, tomato, purple onion, lime juice, and salt and we mash it up with an old fashioned potato masher!

Throw it all on a tortilla with your choice of toppings -(we only add cheese) but sour cream is also acceptable as well as lettuce, diced tomato or onion! It was yummy!


So in summary


We can't break this down the way we do our typical subscription because we know when we subscribe that we are getting spices but we do love the way they all revolve around the flavors of a certain region. Everything is such high quality and flavorful and for the price it just can't be beat!
