first look in the club scikidz box
Our first glimpse inside the Club SciKidz Box for December.
what's in the club scikidz box
Everything that we received in our Club SciKidz Box for December. The theme for the December box is, “Science of Toys” and walks children through how some of the most popular toys are created

So what is all this stuff?

Our activity guide. This details each of the experiments that we’re sent as well as scientists in this field and further reading.
Plastic Cups
These will be used in our magic sand experiment
Melting Snowman
This melting snowman project lets you make a putty snowman, dress him up and also watch him melt!
Laser Pop Candy
Every Club SciKidz Box comes with a piece of candy. This one has a laser at the end!
Magic Sand
This magic sand stays dry underwater … we couldn’t wait to try this out!
Rubber Ball Packet
We received everything we needed to create 3 bouncy balls! There’s three colors of plastic, 3 sheets of aluminum foil as well as one mold
Bubbles
A classic “toy” bubbles are synonymous with childhood fun!
Thermometer
We didn’t actually use this… not sure what it was included for but still a great way for kids to learn temperature!
LED Packet
For our LED Throwie Project we received 2 pieces of electric tape, 2 LED lights, a disc magnet and a battery

Okay, so now what?

We started with the bouncy ball experiment. Our first step is to get some warm water
We fill our mold, add it to the water and wait for a minute and a half.
We let our mold sit for 3 minutes and then remove it from the mold.
Then we wait an additional 20 minutes for our balls to completely dry. This is a great way for kids to see how things are created. That small, tiny things come together to create something! Very interesting!
We next did the melting snowman craft.
We formed our three snowman portions
And then decorated them
Then we just wait for him to melt! This represents the different states of matter and how this putty seems like a solid yet acts like a liquid. The best part is you can build this snowman over and over again!
Our next task was the LED Throwie. For this fun and simple project we connect the LED light to the battery and secure with electrical tape
And then attach the magnet with your second piece of electric tape, this allows you to add a light to any metal object you’d like!
Our next and final project is the Magic Sand project. We take half a cup of water and add to 4 teaspoons of sand. After this it’s all up to you… have fun with this stuff that never gets wet!
You may be asking yourself.. how does it never get wet? It’s sprayed with a water resistant coating that allows you to play with it as though it were on a dry surface. You can also drain the water and play with this sand over and over again! Definitely an interesting experiment!

So in summary

We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation and presentation. The Club SciKidz Box is our favorite children’s subscription because it teaches kids but also gives us some real quality time! The presentation is great, everything arrives perfectly. The quality is awesome – the items included are wonderful and get the job done! And curation is fantastic. Each month the experiments are thoughtful and thorough. We love that they explain everything to make the project come full circle with the lesson! We love this subscription
