Here’s the Box Breakdown

first look in the bbq box

Our first glimpse inside the BBQ Box for February. This month’s meat is Flank Steak.

Here’s everything that came in our BBQ Box. As promised there’s a bag of wood chips, a rub, a sauce, a recipe and an edible!

So what is all this stuff?

Our box insert is our recipe

The card does a really good job of explaining how to achieve this tasty dish

Midwest Spice Company Whiskey Maple Smoke Spice

$8.95

This craft spice blends sweet and smoky to create something wonderful for your palette! A mix of smoked paprika, maple sugar and hickory smoked salt create this well balanced rub. This is really nice and we kind of love the sound of all the blends this company has to offer!

Bluegrass Soy Sauce

$7.95

Small batch, American made soy sauce? Yep. This is a craft soy sauce that is born and made in Louisville. The soybeans are non-gmo and the sauce is aged in old whiskey barrels giving it a more smoky and flavorful taste. We CANNOT wait to try this out!

Vaugh Alder Wood Chips Sample

We received 8 ounces of wood chips from Vaughn Wood Products. Our husband says that this is the PERFECT amount for smoking one meal. This month’s wood is Alder Wood which we’ve never used in our smoking before, so that should be interesting!

TP Enterprises Grilled Sensation Beef Jerky

$4.99

This 1.5 ounce bag of jerky is the perfect size to enjoy while waiting on your meat. This jerky is the tougher, chewier kind and has a good amount of salt. A total treat to be honest!

So in summary

We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation, and presentation. The BBQ Box is a great way to get BBQ inspiration each month and to find some lesser known sauce and rub companies. We love the way everything is paired together through the recipe. The presentation is great, everything arrives perfectly. The quality is outstanding. We are loving the small batch quality of the items included – particularly the soy sauce. And curation is fantastic. These boxes work perfectly because each item revolves around a recipe. Another great month from BBQ Box!
